My training at art school was a traditional one. Figure painting, Portraits and landscape. I have pursued this practice throughout my artistic working life. Having lived all my life in London it was not surprising that I should be influenced by my environment and that it should be reflected in my work.
About eight years ago I started to paint urban landscapes influenced by painters like Edward Hopper and Oskar Kokoschka. About five years ago a chance image, a new digital camera and an abundance of bad weather set me off in a new direction. My work has become more impressionistic, my palette has become darker and the work has taken on a more atmospheric quality.
