Artist's Statement

Large abstract shapes, solid colours, fleck-marked by textured surfaces. My depict fragments of nature and form inscriptions of forgotten experiences.

Magnification of detail is an important aspect of the work and has intrinsic value by encouraging the viewer to observe the work from near and far.

Subtle repetitions of motifs within the paintings refer to the circular aspects of
continuity through the disintegrations and regeneration of organic growth. The idea of eternal return is expressed through the use of subject matter, of natural forms.

Process plays an important part in the works development and significance and refers to the production of memory duration as experienced time. Through methods of printing and mark making, the reproduction of natural forms I create brings together direct imprints with past impressions. I allow myself to be driven by the image and process simultaneously, to produce a painting littered with incident by in a controlled way.
