The expressionists have primarily influenced my art, although I do love the Dutch School.
Most of my paintings are in acrylic with mixed media such as tissue paper, tea, coconut hair and sawdust. I like to experiment with different textural effects.
For me, mood and atmosphere are created through varied media and the paintings gain an extra depth.
Acrylic is an excellent choice because it dries quickly and I can build out from the surface while ideas are fresh in my mind!
More recently I have drawn from my experiences in North Africa to create abstract pieces based on colour and form. |
